  • Obama’s Slam Of Hispanic Conservatives, Explained
by Jorge Bonilla on November 27, 2020 at 11:15 pm

President Barack Obama’s interview with The Breakfast Club, released the day before Thanksgiving, garnered significant news and reaction due to a simple line about Hispanic evangelicals who vote their conscience. But by narrowly focusing on what Obama said, most (if not all) subsequent analyses miss the broader point about which is why that remark is offensive. Here’s the Obama quote, within its full context- a broader point on ideological diversity beyond the liberal cloisters of New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C: PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: But...but listen. It’s hard winning in Georgia. Just like it’s hard winning in Iowa. Just like it’s hard winning in a lot of the country. And one thing, I think, that I hope the book also reminds us of…yeah, those of us who live in D.C., or New York, or L.A., you know...sometimes, we do not have a good enough sense of how big this country is and how a lot of folks do not accept at all things that we who are living in urban, metropolitan areas just take for granted.  CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: Oh, I’m from South Carolina. I know.  OBAMA: Yeah, I mean...it’s...you know- you go...there are big chunks of the country- even in our own communities, right? I mean, so...so I deeply believe that people should be treated equally under the law regardless of sexual orientation.  CHARLAMAGNE: I was shocked you talked about that in the book. OBAMA: But...but we all, you know… I mean, I think that (there are) big chunks of our community where that’s still controversial. People were surprised about a lot of Hispanic folks who voted for Trump. But there are a lot of evangelical Hispanics who...you know… the fact that Trump says racist things about Mexicans or puts detainees...you know... undocumented workers in cages- they think that’s less important than the fact that...you know...he supports their views on gay marriage or abortion. The widely cited partial quote (starting at “People were surprised…”) comes off as factual and non-controversial, as if Obama were merely stating that there do, in fact, exist Hispanic evangelicals who give greater priority to life issues than they do to immigration. But he didn’t really just make an assertion of fact. Viewed within its full context, Obama’s remark was an expression of contempt similar, in tone and substance, to his infamous “bitter clingers” remark- the exact opposite of an acknowledgment of ideological diversity within the Hispanic community. Obama’s smears, though, are nothing new to us. And if he feels free to vent about conservative Hispanics who don’t toe the line, it is because there is on the left a permission structure to do so. Listen to Univision anchor Jorge Ramos whine about the same thing to Spain’s El Intermedio a little over two years ago:  JORGE RAMOS: There are people that feel totally identified with this country, that believe the same things that Donald Trump believes. If you vote for someone, you partially resemble that. And also that, among Latinos, there are very conservative values that are commonly held with the Republican Party, President Trump’s party. The, the religious issue, the importance of family, the abortion issue. This explains, in part, why one out of three Hispanics vote for Donald Trump and is so conservative. The common thread between these statements is, aside from the whiny sense of entitlement to the Hispanic vote and seething contempt for those who don’t toe the line, a default labeling of Hispanics who voted for President Donald Trump as social conservatives. But this reveals a further disconnect with the community that both Obama and Ramos claim to champion.  Trump’s 2020 Spanish-language messaging was narrowly limited to anti-socialism, economic empowerment, and law-and-order. There were no Trump ads about abortion or the Supreme Court. The Trump coalition is diverse and the same is true for Trump supporters within the Hispanic community, from Miami-Dade to the Rio Grande Valley and from Lawrence, MA to Los Angeles.  And therein lies the offensive nature of Obama’s remarks. They are not merely a statement of fact but an expression of sneering contempt for those Hispanics who do not conform to what is expected of them. The expectation being, in this case, that Hispanics be single-issue immigration voters that turn out en masse for whomever flings open the border- La Raza über alles. Economic empowerment, personal liberty, school choice, free exercise of religion- all these other issues must become subordinate to immigration and if you vote your conscience or, as Ramos puts it, “feel totally identified with this country” then you are a race-traitor. That’s precisely the point Obama was trying to make within his broader discussion of what gets taken for granted in big liberal cities. Obama’s been out of office for four years but his demagoguery game, aided and abetted by a Spanish-language media that looked other way as he smeared a big chunk of the community they claim to champion, is as strong as ever.

  • CNN's Honig Slams Mike Flynn Pardon as 'Wild Abuse of Power'
by Brad Wilmouth on November 27, 2020 at 10:38 pm

In the aftermath of President Donald Trump pardoning retired General Mike Flynn, CNN legal analyst Elie Honig declared that the move is a "wild abuse of power" as he and other CNN regulars failed to inform viewers of the argument in favor of exonerating the former national security advisor. By contrast, Fox News viewers were much more informed as legal analysts like Jonathan Turley and Gregg Jarrett made the argument that General Flynn did nothing illegal and was pressured into pleading guilty to perjury he did not commit to keep his son from having to fend off a similarly heavy-handed investigation. Plugging the segment on Thursday afternoon, CNN host Brooke Baldwin made General Flynn sound unequivocally guilty: "President Trump pardons Michael Flynn, a man who admitted to lying to the FBI on more than one occasion, and the President reportedly is just getting started." After a commercial break, she read President Trump's tweet pardoning Flynn and recalled that Democrats called the move an "abuse of power" before going to Honig for reaction. Cuing him up, she reiterated: "And again, just too remind everyone, you know, this is a guy who pleaded, you know, admitted guilt -- pleaded guilty on more than one occasion to lying to the FBI." Without providing any argument in favor of the pardon, Honig was all negative as he predicted: "It's worth pausing for a second to appreciate just what a wild abuse of power this is. I mean, law school students 20, 30 years from now are going to be studying this. This is going to  be high on the list of most dubious pardons we've ever seen in our history." A bit later, he again played up how corrupt he thought it was: This is what makes it really a unique abuse of power -- Michael Flynn was in the process of cooperating with prosecutors -- with Robert Mueller -- when the President started floating this possibility of a pardon. And here we are a couple of years later -- Flynn has been paid in full -- he did not cooperate. And I think that's what separates this from other historical dubious pardons that we've seen. When asked by Baldwin who else President Trump might pardon, Honig went on to wildly speculate that the President might pardon several others, including his daughter, Ivanka, and himself: Oh, boy. All right, let's see. We've got - you've got to look at the other people from the Mueller case -- Paul Manafort, Roger Stone. His sentence was commuted -- now, he's lobbying for the whole pardon. Why not? Trump's handing them out like candy. George Papadopoulos, other political allies. Family members -- potentially, Don Junior, potentially Ivanka. Jared Kushner's father was convicted of federal crimes a few years ago in federal court here in New Jersey. And then, of course, the big question: Will the President have the gall to try to pardon himself? On Wednesday morning, as CNN's New Day discussed the expectation that Flynn would be pardoned, the show similarly did not give any argument in favor of such a move, and correspondent Jeremy Diamond described the move by the Justice Department to drop the case as "irregular." California Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff was also allowed to come on the show and react negatively to the expected pardon. By contrast, on Thursday's Fox & Friends, liberal Fox News legal analyst Jonathan Turley argued that General Flynn had not committed a crime, had been financially ruined paying for legal costs, and pleaded guilty to prevent his son from being similarly targeted. He also recalled that the FBI agents who initially interviewed Flynn did not believe he was intentionally lying about his discussions with Russian officials in part because he knew that there was a transcript of his conversations that they had available to check against his recollections. A bit later, Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett -- who has written extensively and published two books on the Russia probe -- similarly argued that Flynn had not broken the law and merely had normal interactions with Russian officials as part of his job. The heavily misleading episode of CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin was sponsored in part by Fidelity. Their contact information is linked. Relevant transcripts follow: CNN Newsroom November 26, 2020 3:20 p.m. Eastern BROOKE BALDWIN (before commercial break): President Trump pardons Michael Flynn, a man who admitted to lying to the FBI on more than one occasion, and the President reportedly is just getting started. (...) 3:25 p.m. BALDWIN: In what may be a signal that Donald Trump is accepting he may be a one-term President, he has pardoned Michael Flynn. And, like most of his major announcements, it came via tweet. Quoting the President here, "It is my great honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a full pardon. Leading Democrats called it an abuse of power, but they may have to get ready to say that again.  CNN legal analyst Elie Honig is with me now. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for being on with he. What do you think of the Flynn pardon? And again, just too remind everyone, you know, this is a guy who pleaded, you know, admitted guilt -- pleaded guilty on more than one occasion to lying to the FBI. ELIE HONIG, CNN LEGAL ANALYST: Yeah, for sure, Brooke. I know we all saw this coming. And I know this pardon happened by tweet on the eve of Thanksgiving. But it's worth pausing for a second to appreciate just what a wild abuse of power this is. I mean, law school students 20, 30 years from now are going to be studying this. This is going to  be high on the list of most dubious pardons we've ever seen in our history. And I'll give you two reasons. First of all, Michael Flynn was a political ally, a close political advisor, as you said, the national security advisor for the President. We've had a few that arguably fall into that category. Number two, though -- and this is what makes it really a unique abuse of power -- Michael Flynn was in the process of cooperating with prosecutors -- with Robert Mueller -- when the President started floating this possibility of a pardon. And here we are a couple of years later -- Flynn has been paid in full -- he did not cooperate. And I think that's what separates this from other historical dubious pardons that we've seen. BALDWIN: Who else, Elie? I mean, he's supposed to be -- Flynn is expected to be the first of several. What other names are you watching for? HONIG: Oh, boy. (...) Fox News Channel Fox & Friends November 26, 2020 6:04 a.m. Eastern JONATHAN TURLEY, FOX NEWS LEGAL ANALYST: This pardon would not have been necessary if the judge in the case, Judge Sullivan, had simply issued a final decision. This is a bizarre case because the Justice Department sought to drop the charges -- decided that he was improperly charged because of what has come out recently. And what the judge did is refuse to issue that order, and he was ultimately taken up on appeal. A panel ruled against him and ordered him to dismiss the case. That was then later reversed by the full court, which said that "we have to give Judge Sullivan a chance to do the right thing -- to finish the case and then we'll review it." Well, it went back -- and in a third sentencing hearing, Sullivan again refused to issue a final decision -- said that he had still questions about the case. He even asked the lawyers in the case what would happen if he just waits for a Biden Justice Department -- whether that would change things.  And so many of us were highly critical of Judge Sullivan's handling of the case. And that's why this is a rather unique situation. I do not feel comfortable with the President pardoning associates -- I don't feel comfortable with any President pardoning political associates -- but this is not your normal case. I mean, this case should have been dismissed a long time ago.  And, also, he should not have been criminally investigated. ... General Flynn's investigation for criminal conduct fell apart in December of 2016 -- by January 2017, the Justice Department was asking to get to end that investigation. It was stopped by Peter Strzok -- one of the figures that has featured so prominently publicly. He prevented them from closing that investigation. And then James Comey went --as described by Sally Yates -- rogue. And sent in these investigators to see if they could get him to trip a wire, which he did. But this has been a really outrageous and in my view abusive case from the beginning. It's important to note that those investigators that he was charged with lying to said that they didn't think he intentionally lied to him. When the interview began, he said, "Well, you all have the transcript of my conversation with the diplomats." And they did. And they said that they didn't think he intentionally lied. But he fought the charges. And what Mueller's people did is, first of all, there weren't any charges. And Mueller came in and they resuscitated the charges. And they pummeled this guy -- drained him of his money, then threatened his son with prosecution. And he finally pled guilty to end it. So it's just been an outrageous case from the beginning. (...) There's no one in this case that has alleged that General Flynn has withheld evidence against President Trump. He was convicted of making these statements that were viewed as false about his conversations with diplomats. There was nothing criminal in those conversations with Russian diplomats, and there is notes released later that suggest Comey told President Obama and then Vice President Joe Biden that the calls appeared, quote, "legit." And they were -- there was nothing untoward or even uncommon in a national security advisor, weeks before the entry of an administration, to reach out to the diplomats from countries like Russia. There was nothing uncommon -- nothing illegal -- in those communications. (...) 7:06 a.m. GREGG JARRETT, FOX NEWS LEGAL ANALYST: They hid and concealed that exculpatory evidence of his innocence, and they falsely accused and wrongfully prosecuted an innocent man, so, you know, I know that Michael Flynn didn't want a pardon -- he wanted to be exonerated in court, but, at this point, with a change in administrations appearing likely, he'll take it.

  • Art Critic: Republicanism Needs to ‘Isolated and Snuffed Out’
by Tim Graham on November 27, 2020 at 10:24 pm

Brett T. at Twitchy reported that last weekend, New York magazine's senior art critic Jerry Saltz crossed a line of decency, implying Republicans didn't deserve to live.  (He must have agreed. The tweet was deleted). It said:  Republicanism is no longer a political problem; Republicanism is a social problem. It must be treated in the same way coronavirus is treated: it has to be isolated and snuffed-out by repressing it in about 70% of the general population. Tess Ashpool replied: Dear Jerry, Are you sure about this one? Sounds a bit gulag-y ... Saltz shot back: "The 'ism' not the people, Tess." Comparing the Other Party to a virus that's blamed for 250,000 deaths sounds very over the top. This man's a self-confessed "liberal bedwetter," recently panicking at the horrid things that would happen in a second Trump term, and wailing about the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg:  The mass vigils for her that sprung up almost immediately after the news broke were strange, in their way a secular canonization. But they were also a kind of collective acknowledgement by a nation of frayed liberals that the country they believed in was held together by wire and string and the frail body of a single octogenarian battling pancreatic cancer. That thread snapped. In a similar case of severe GOP-hatred, Kara Zupkus at Young America's Foundation pointed out campus craziness from Rutgers assistant journalism professor and activist Chenjerai Kumanyika, who tweeted on Monday "Earlier I suggested the GOP would 'shit out' something more putrid in future elections. This poorly chosen metaphor compared GOP politics to fecal matter This was unfair to fecal matter & does not reflect my heart. Unlike the GOP, fecal matter has done nothing wrong." He then followed up:  "Fecal matter - our friend in digestion - has only played its role in the excretory process. I should not have compared it to the GOP politicians many (not all) of whom have supported, climate-destroying, democracy destroying, racist, sexist, violent policies." Isn't this just the kind of swell fellow who should teach our journalists of the future?

  • MSNBC Trashes Giuliani, Credits David Dinkins with Cutting Crime
by Brad Wilmouth on November 27, 2020 at 8:55 pm

On Tuesday, the historical revisionists at MSNBC were hard at work trying to credit former New York City Mayor David Dinkins with the drop in crime that happened under his successor, Republican Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Joy Reid even condemned Giuliani for daring to offer condolences to his former political rival, and tried to link the New York Republican with those who aimed racial epithets at Dinkins, even while speaking with Al Sharpton who previously derided Dinkins with the same slur. On The ReidOut, after noting the passing of the New York Democrat, Reid recalled a rowdy protest by police officers from 1992 in which some allegedly called then-Mayor Dinkins by racial epithets, with the MSNBC host then trying to hang the bad behavior on Giuliani: I'm sure that you can guess the ugly racist slur we bleeped out which was hurled at the sitting mayor of New York. ... So when the same Rudy Giuliani whose seemingly singular goal as the next mayor was to undo everything Dinkins tried to do -- particularly when it came to making policing less onerous and less bullying and less deadly for black New Yorkers -- when he offers condolences to Mayor Dinkins ... you should take that with the same seriousness you give Rudy's legal maneuvers. She then added: "In fact, if anything, Rudy was the original Donald Trump -- the un-Dinkins -- just as Trump was the un-Obama -- designed as if in a laboratory to put white grievance against an historical black elected leader into human form." It was not mentioned that Dinkins was criticized for mishandling the NYPD response to the deadly Crown Heights riots of 1991 which caused many injuries and likely multiple deaths. Reid soon took a couple of shots at former Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, and hatefully rejected the offer of condolences by Giuliani: In an era when it seemed like the whole world was at war with black America from the Nixon-plotted, Reagan-boosted war on drugs to the plague of crack cocaine and violence on our streets that led directly to the 1994 crime bill to the indifference and cruelty of the police, Dinkins dared to try to make a difference. And we all paid for his brief but hopeful tenure with the first Trump -- the original Trump -- the Trump named Rudy. So save your condolences, Rudy. Tell it to Landscaping or whomever you think is hiding the 8,000,000 Trump votes in Germany. We don't want to hear from you. After trying to link use of a racial slur against Dinkins onto Giuliani, Reid then ironically brought aboard fellow host Sharpton as a guest, who has previously admitted to having actually used the same slur against Dinkins himself. Without giving credit to Mayor Giuliani and NYPD police officers for saving the lives of many black New York residents in the 1990s, Reid suggested that police officers are "free to kill at will" as she recalled: We started off by really talking about the way that Dinkins was taken out of office by Rudy Giuliani -- by this rage that Giuliani stoked that was already there in the police against what Mayor Dinkins wanted to do, which was change policing. I feel like we're having kind of a rerun of that conversation about Black Lives Matter about whether or not police should be free to kill at will in black communities. He tried to do something about it. Sharpton laughably tried to transfer credit for solving New York's crime problem from Giuliani onto Dinkins: as he laughably claimed: "He revitalized Times Square. He started this whole community policing. And, in many ways, you are more than correct, Joy -- it's almost like, to study Donald Trump, you have to study Rudy Giuliani. They took credit for things that their predecessors did, and they used race to try and rev up a political career." In fact, after homicides reached a record high of 1,905 in 1989 the year before Dinkins's term began, the number of homicides exceeded the previous record high all four years when he was in office, dropping modestly his second and third year, and holding about even between his third fourth years at 1,995 and 1,960, respectively. By contrast, homicides dropped more than 20 percent the first year Giuliani came into office and reached a 30-year low by the end of his first term. Earlier in the day, Morning Joe also tried to give much of the credit for cutting crime on Dinkins, and, later on, fill-in anchor Chris Jansing suggested that "racism pure and simple" was to blame for Dinkins being voted out of office as she quoted from his book. The historical revision seen on The ReidOut was sponsored in part by Tommie Copper. Their contact information is linked. Transcripts follow: MSNBC Morning Joe November 24, 2020 MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Dinkins is credited with leading a crackdown on violent crime and helping revitalize Times Square. He also oversaw the establishment of restaurant week and fashion week. Mayor Dinkins was 93 years. JOE SCARBOROUGH: So, Jonathan Lemire, obviously Mayor Dinkins a trailblazer. Rudy Giuliani himself has actually come out with praise, positive words for Mayor Dinkins. He was mayor of New York City during some of its toughest years, 1989 to 1993. Racial unrest was extraordinarily high. We were in the middle of a crack epidemic as well as the AIDS epidemic was continuing also, a heroine epidemic. This was a city that in 1989, when he assumed office, was already at a breaking point.  JONATHAN LEMIRE, ASSOCIATED PRESS: Mayor Dinkins inherited a very difficult hand -- fiscal turmoil, surging crime rates, a very high murder rate in New York City, as you said, drug epidemics as well. He was sort of a calm, steady hand -- historic election, of course, the city's first black mayor, a Harlem Democrat, soft-spoken, very different than the mayors like Mayor Koch who preceded him and then Mayor Giuliani, an extraordinarily classy character, Dinkins, and, you know, he only served one term. Voters rejected his handling of the Crown Heights riots which happened during his watch, But he is someone who history is already starting to view more kindly -- he does indeed -- Giuliani gets a lot of the credit in New York City for driving down the crime rate in the 1990s, but it was Dinkins -- that drop began under Dinkins who also expanded dramatically the size of the NYPD, and the extra officers playing a vital role in bringing down crime rates and making New York City safer. (...) WILLIE GEIST: He took office on January 1, 1990 -- that is the peak of bad New York as it was known in the 1980s and the early '90s. So it was the most murders in the history of the city happened in 1990. And, as Jonathan points out, Mayor Dinkins took steps -- he added money by 25 percent -- he added cops -- he hired a bunch more cops -- he put police out. So, yes, Mayor Giuliani deserves credit for what he did, but this did all begin with Mayor Dinkins cleaning up of Times Square, the lowering of the crime rate (...) JOE SCARBOROUGH: We, of course, gave much of the credit -- most of the credit -- to Rudy Giuliani -- and he deserved a lot of the credit -- but also, as you correctly point out, the revitalization of Times Square, which was so important -- the cleaning up of the heart of the city began under Mayor Dinkins as did the increased number of police officers. Rudy Giuliani came in and took those advantages and did a lot with it and turned New York City around. But I'm glad to see this morning that many of Mayor Dinkins's adversaries are recognizing that. (..) MSNBC MSNBC Live November 24, 2020 9:24 a.m. Eastern CHRIS JANSING: But first before we go, New York is remembering its first and only black mayor, David Dinkins. He passed away yesterday at 93 from natural causes. Dinkins was born in New Jersey, moved to Harlem to live with his mom in 1927. At the time, black people weren't allowed to use the school swimming pool.  Dinkins held a series of fairly low-level elected and appointed positions before being elected mayor. In his memoir, he attributed his failed re-election bid to "racism, pure and simple," is how he put it. He'd go on to become a professor, a radio talk show host, and elder Democratic statesman. Dinkins's wife, Joyce, passed away a little more than a month ago. (...) MSNBC The ReidOut November 24, 2020 7:47 p.m. Eastern JOY REID: In the center of the mayhem standing on top of a car, cursing Mayor Dinkins through a bullhorn, was mayoral candidate Rudy Giuliani. Dinkins described the ugly protests the following day during a press conference. MAYOR DAVID DINKINS (D-NEW YORK CITY) (dated September 17, 1992) ): But some of them out there yesterday who were calling out n*****, for instance, why would the people of our community have confidence that they have the capacity to handle a tense situation in a minority community. REID: I'm sure that you can guess the ugly racist slur we bleeped out which was hurled at the sitting mayor of New York. We euphemize it as "the N word." So when the same Rudy Giuliani whose seemingly singular goal as the next mayor was to undo everything Dinkins tried to do -- particularly when it came to making policing less onerous and less bullying and less deadly for black New Yorkers -- when he offers condolences to Mayor Dinkins who died peacefully at his home last night at age 93 less than two months after the death of his beloved wife Joyce, you should take that with the same seriousness you give Rudy's legal maneuvers.  In fact, if anything, Rudy was the original Donald Trump -- the un-Dinkins -- just as Trump was the un-Obama -- designed as if in a laboratory to put white grievance against an historical black elected leader into human form. (...) On the say after famed tennis champion Arthur Ashe announcing he was HIV positive. Dinkins named the city's first coordinator for AIDS policy, Ronald Johnson, who is himself HIV positive. As the virus tore through the gay community nationwide following years of neglect by the Reagan administration. (...) In an era when it seemed like the whole world was at war with black America from the Nixon-plotted, Reagan-boosted war on drugs to the plague of crack cocaine and violence on our streets that led directly to the 1994 crime bill to the indifference and cruelty of the police, Dinkins dared to try to make a difference. He tried to do something about it. What do you take from that fight? Is it dispiriting to think that after great men like this have tried -- after you have tried after we've had all of these movements -- we're till fighting about this? (...) AL SHARPTON: He revitalized Times Square. He started this whole community policing. • No Shame: PBS Hack Hails Biden Cabinet As the Avengers ‘Saving Us All'
by Kristine Marsh on November 27, 2020 at 8:41 pm

The same media who spent the past four years calling President Trump, literally Hitler, is now breathlessly comparing President-Elect Joe Biden and his cabinet to superheroes saving the earth. And they expect us to take them seriously? Take for instance Nicolle Wallace, who crassly compared the president to a dog “lifting his leg and peeing on our democracy,” but was ecstatic over Joe Biden’s cabinet picks on her Deadline: White House show, Tuesday: “[T]o talk about diplomacy being back, to talk about Joe Biden's empathy and humanity, to talk about diplomacy being back, it is all about implicit rebuke of Donald Trump's foreign policy stewardship over the last four weeks!” she gushed. Fellow fangirl and PBS White House Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor actually compared Biden's team to Marvel's Avengers: YAMICHE ALCINDOR: That's right and just saying they're going to do their job and be good stewards of America's role in this world and focus on American diplomacy, that in and of itself being a rebuke of President Trump ...The other thing I will just say is I was talking to a Democrat who just said this also felt like the Avengers, it felt like we are being rescued from this, this craziness we’ve all lived through these past four years and now here are the superheroes to come and save us all.  And it wasn’t just Alcindor. On Friday’s New Day on CNN, senior political analyst Ron Brownstein of The Atlantic also recited the ridiculous comparison, albeit he had reservations that Biden could bring newer progressive figures into his cabinet: Well, look, experienced, competent, familiar, those are the strengths and perhaps limitations of the team that he has selected so far. I mean, you know he's picked a lot of figures who have broad support in the party, who are very familiar in Washington. But you know, one of the most attractive things, one of the most attractive arguments he had during the campaign was that -- from Joe Biden, was that he would be the transition to a new generation of democratic leaders. There were democratic activists that talked about the Avengers model, of bringing together many of the talented younger leaders who either ran for president or emerged around the country. We haven't really seen that yet. He has picked kind of a class of familiar figures in Washington. And I think the issue is whether he can ultimately reach out in that way. And even if he does, bring them into his inner circle. I think one of the biggest questions about Biden always has been, is he truly going to be open to the way the democratic party has changed since he was first elected 50 years ago? And we'll have to see. Because so far the appointments I think have the strength of their virtues and the limits of their virtues.  We've heard this before. In May, a MSNBC reporter excitedly described a Biden rally full of failed Democrats as looking like “an Avengers sequel.” It’s pretty pathetic and transparent for the media to spin Joe Biden as Captain America leading his team straight from the swamp to save the earth. Progressive and Priceline sponsored the MSNBC segment, you can contact them at the Conservatives fight back page links provided. Read the transcripts below: MSNBC Deadline: White House 11/24/2020 4:05:48 PM EST NICOLLE WALLACE: You know, I don't know if it's just a sign of this moment, but to talk about diplomacy being back, to talk about Joe Biden's empathy and humanity, to talk about diplomacy being back, it is all about implicit rebuke of Donald Trump's foreign policy stewardship over the last four weeks.  YAMICHE ALCINDOR: That's right and just saying they're going to do their job and be good stewards of America's role in this world and focus on American diplomacy, that in and of itself being a rebuke of President Trump is underscored what we've all been living through in the last four years, a president that wanted to be more isolationist, who wanted to pull back. What we saw today, I was sitting in that room in Wilmington, I was thinking about the fact that Joe Biden in some ways, for his supporters, is fulfilling the promises he made on the trail. He said he wanted to have a cabinet that looked like America and there were people there on that stage, of course talking about all of their different accolades and their experience, but they were also talking about their families who survived the Holocaust, who survived coming from Cuba and fleeing communists talked about having gumbo diplomacy, cooking food, cooking southern food as the United Nations Ambassador was talking about. All of those are what America is about, it’s this melting pot. The other thing I will just say is I was talking to a Democrat who just said this also felt like the Avengers, it felt like we are being rescued from this, this craziness we’ve all lived through these past four years and now here are the superheroes to come and save us all.  ... CNN’s New Day 11/27/2020 6:18:36 AM EST JOHN BERMAN:As for President-Elect Biden, it is interesting. Because we are seeing a lot of the same characteristics we've seen this entire campaign, which is that he's not going to let himself get swept into the controversy of the moment. To Twitter feuds, to Twitter rants. To Democrats and/or Republicans lighting their hair on fire over certain things. So that's just who he is, at this point. Ron, as for who he has selected so far, who he will nominate for various positions, people who have long ties to him, who have long ties to government, who have long ties in expertise to the areas they're covering, but not necessarily a step into the future, you note. How significant?  RON BROWNSTEIN: Yeah. Well, look, experienced, competent, familiar, those are the strengths and perhaps limitations of the team that he has selected so far. “After a day-long grilling on the details of the attack and how Clinton handled it, the former secretary of state was forced to defend her use of a private email account while in office from a flurry of late evening attacks by GOP lawmakers.”

She also came under testy cross-examination over the extent to which she has taken responsibility for the deaths of the Americans in the September 11, 2012, attacks and her contact with U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, one of the victims, after sending him to the North African country.

“I came here because I said I would. And I’ve done everything I know to do, as have the people with whom I worked, to try to answer your questions. I cannot do any more than that,”

Clinton said towards the end of the grueling day — before later breaking into a coughing fit and taking a throat lozenge to ease her failing voice.

Frankly, from where I sit, Hillary once again showed her true colors. She does not care that innocent people died under her watch. She does not think she did anything wrong about her emails, though it has been proven that she committed a Federal crime by hosting State Department emails on an insecure personal server.

Make America Happy

As we approach the election in 2016, for God’s sake, do not allow Hillary to win! We cannot afford to put what appears to be a socialist, pathological, narcissistic liar in the nation’s top office.

Texas War Memorial

Since September 11, 2001 and the Global War on Terror, millions of men and women have chosen to serve in the various branches of the U.S. military. As a way to honor those who have served the state of Texas, a small group of dedicated patriots is seeking to raise funds to construct and dedicate “The Price of Liberty” monument at the Texas Capitol, in Austin, in late 2017.

While attending a national Military Family Conference over six years ago with his military spouse, Retired Army Colonel, James Stryker, discovered that several states had already established or were in the process of establishing monuments to honor service members serving since September 11, 2001. To his amazement, no such memorial existed for Texas service members.

“I wondered why Texas, one of the largest contributors of military personnel, had not built a monument to honor these volunteers,” said Stryker. “I did not want these service members and their families to wait 40 years, like Texas Vietnam Veterans, to see that Texas appreciated their sacrifices. After all, can you imagine a son or daughter of a fallen service member waiting until they were adults to see their mom or dad honored?”

With his wife serving in the Texas National Guard and deploying to Afghanistan, Stryker witnessed first-hand many soldiers and their families make the necessary sacrifices to serve in Afghanistan, Iraq, or other overseas locations. A regular face at deployment ceremonies, it is the memories and images of those families that make this monument so important.

“I remember one mother in particular, walking to board the plane, her daughter crying, “Mommy, don’t go!” causing the soldier-mom to cry, but not falter, as she bravely left for Iraq,” said Stryker.

It is from this image that “The Price of Liberty” Memorial was born. As such, Stryker teamed up with the Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation, a §501 (c)(3) organization, and hired artist Sandra Van Zandt who made a clay model and with members of the Foundation, to design the final monument. The monument is unique in several ways. First, the group wanted to honor not only the veterans, but also persons irrefutably affected by deployments – the families. These spouses, children, parents and siblings sacrifice and face challenges that many non-service families do not face. In addition, to make the monument distinctly Texan, the artist modeled Lady Liberty in “The Price of Liberty” monument after the Goddess of Liberty on the Texas Capitol dome.

Having built the model, members of the Foundation, steered by Mr. Stan Lenox III, of the Association of the United States Army, secured the required legislation to place the monument on the Texas Capitol Grounds. Governor Abbott signed the legislation into law on June 10, 2015.

“As a state, we owe it to our great service members and their families to build this monument to honor them and provide a place for them to reflect on their service, a place to heal and know that fellow-Texans appreciate their sacrifices,” said Stryker. “It also serves as a place to reflect and as a reminder for all, even those who have not served, that there is a high price for liberty.”

In addition to the bronze memorial for the Texas Capitol, a “Living Memorial” has been established, in the form of an online repository to archive and communicate the history of Texans in the Global War on Terror. Visitors to the Living Memorial will be able to read real accounts and stories, view photos and videos. Visitors can search names, units, hometowns, service branches, etc. to assist them in accessing the stories of Texans from all regions. It will be a place to share, to learn, to remember and to heal. Stryker hopes to attract a museum or college that will maintain the Living Memorial indefinitely.

The “Price of Liberty Memorial” will honor 225,000 Texans who served in Afghanistan and Iraq; over 700 Texas military members (to date) that paid the ultimate sacrifice; thousands of wounded warriors and all Texas Veterans, and their families, who served after September 11, 2001. The goal is to raise funds to build and provide an endowment for future maintenance of “The Price of Liberty Memorial.”

Those interested in contributing stories/photographs or donating to “The Price of Liberty” Memorial(s), can do so via the website http://TexasWarMemorial.com or by mail at Texas War Memorial, 3706 Crawford Street, Austin, TX 78731. We are a §501 (c)(3) organization.

Our mission is to build and place “The Price of Liberty” Memorial Statue at the Texas Capitol, in late 2017. The monument is to honor service members from all branches of service, and their families, who served in the Global War on Terror, after September 11, 2001.
Legislation requires that we also provide an endowment for future maintenance and upkeep of the monument. The project is to be at no cost to Texas taxpayers. Our goal is only collect the funds we require to complete the project but in the event we raise funds in excess of our goal, we will donate those funds to the Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation, who provided our §501(c)(3) status.

Obama has a pen….Acts Like a Child

Like a child who can’t get his way! Not like a President!

President Barack Obama said on Monday he would take executive action to reform the U.S. immigration system after hopes of passing legislation in Congress officially died.

Republican John Boehner, speaker of the House of Representatives, told Obama last week that his chamber would not vote on immigration reform this year, killing chances that a wide-ranging bill passed by the Senate would become law.

The collapse of the legislative process delivers another in a series of blows to Obama’s domestic policy agenda and comes as he struggles to deal with a flood of unaccompanied minors from Central America who have entered the United States.

It also sets up a new battle with congressional Republicans, who accuse Obama of going beyond his legal authority to take executive action on issues such as gay rights and equal pay for women and men.

Obama chided House Republicans for refusing to bring immigration reform to a vote and said only legislation could provide a permanent fix to the problem.

“I take executive action only when we have a serious problem, a serious issue, and Congress chooses to do nothing. And in this situation, the failure of House Republicans to pass a darn bill is bad for our security; it’s bad for our economy, and it’s bad for our future,” Obama said in the White House Rose Garden.

“America cannot wait forever for them to act. That’s why today I’m beginning a new effort to fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own, without Congress.”

Frankly, its time the American people say with all due respect: ” Sir, America cannot wait forever for YOU to get out of your office!”

Obama to Expand Safeguards for Transgender Workers

Here we go again: Obama busy focusing on the Homosexual agenda while his nation crashes!

Will here we go again the White House is preparing an executive order offering trans-gender federal workers formal protection from discrimination at work. There are up at least two other measures being already used to prevent the federal government from firing people for being transgender and so here goes Obama again making something very largely symbolic and yet doing everything he can to destroy the moral fiber of America. As an American citizen, I don’t know what you think about this, but this makes me cringe even more.

Let me have your feedback!

What do you think our government should be doing? Should we be taking care of our national security? Should we be working a better economy? Should we be shoring up our borders and addressing the thousands of children illegally entering our country and now being shipped to cities through America? Should we be spending our time doing more important things or like, Obama, trying to help trangenders be protected in the workplace? I think Obama is demonstrating a great deal of disrespect for the American people. I think it shows a disrespect a disengage from mid America deems important. What do you think?
