December 5, 2023 - Update - Pentagon confirms that the USS Carney (DDG 64) and several commercial vessels were attacked today in the Red Sea at 10:00 EST. The attack was claimed by the Yemen's Houthi rebels. The commercial vessels involved were the Unity Explorer, a British vessel, a vessel name Number 9 and the Sophie II. It was later reported that a vessel with ties to Japan was also attacked. All four commercial vessels were struck by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and/or ballistic missiles. No injuries were reported on the any of the vessels and the damage to each was minor. The Pentagon stated that the USS Carney was not subject to an attack but only responded to distress calls and responded by shooting down several drones and missiles.
